Different Endocrine Glands And Functionalities
Endocrinology is a part of medical science which deals with the study of glands and their functionalities along with the hormones secreted by those glands for a proper functioning of human body. The metabolism process, reproduction process, maintenance of blood sugar level of human body etc are the key functionalities performed by the hormones secreted by endocrine glands.
Problems with the endocrine system cannot be identified that easily in the beginning. It will take lots of months or years for health problems to show up and are likely to be overlooked by the patients. A worst stage of problems will include diabetes, thyroid disorders, bone growth problems etc. Some patients suffer extreme consequences of the endocrine system which will include heart problems, stroke etc. All the seven endocrine glands of human body are equally important and can be equally responsible for different health problems.
Pituitary gland is one of the most important glands in the endocrine system. Pituitary gland is located just beside the nose and generates hormone which play key role in defining various health issues. Problems with pituitary gland will cause obesity and the parts of the human body which accumulate fat due to disorders in pituitary gland are chest, face and back. This obese state is termed as Cushing's disease. Acromegaly is another state of body due to disorders with the secretion of hormones from pituitary gland. In this case, hands and legs would appear larger than normal.

Thyroid gland is the most important of all glands in human body because the functionalities of thyroid gland are so many and all are equally important to lead a healthy life. Thyroid gland is located just above the collar bone and is responsible for the most important functionality of regulation of metabolism. The generation of hormones from thyroid gland defines how the calories should be burned by the body. Apart from that, thyroid gland has significant influence on regulating heart beat, controlling cholesterol and sugar levels of human body, strength of muscles etc. Generation of hormones from thyroid gland can even define your frame of mind.
Hyperthyroidism and hypothyroidism are two bad states of human body due to disorders in thyroid gland. Hyperthyroidism is a state when too much thyroid is generated by thyroid gland and hypothyroidism is a state when hormones are secreted too less by thyroid gland.
Parathyroid glands are a collection of four glands situated near or embedded with thyroid gland. Parathyroid glands secrete parathyroid hormones that are responsible for the regulation of metabolism of human body and it also controls calcium level of body. Disorders with parathyroid glands will result in hyperparathyroidism. The other endocrine gland is the Ovary. Those are a pair of women organs that produce sex hormones. Disorders with ovaries will result in turner syndrome.
Islets of Langerhans are a collection of cellular organs situated near to pancreas and the hormones secreted by these glands are responsible for the regulation of insulin level. Disorders with any of these endocrine glands will result in a huge imbalance of health and it has to be ensured that our body is functioning just normally.
